This coming Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and we will be beginning the Season of Lent. It is the important annual time of spiritual growth for all believers as we prepare ourselves for the celebration of Easter. Sometimes we can so focus on the idea of “giving something up” for Lent that we might overlook the extra things that we can be doing to grow spiritually. We can pray more and be engaged in devotional practices that are very important. So let us commit to making Lent a very special time of growing in God’s grace. The word Lent means “springtime”. We can be renewed and strengthened in our faith in so many wonderful ways. Our celebration of Easter will be so much more powerful if we use these days of Lent to prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the reality of the Resurrection of Jesus! And let us continue to pray for one another.
